MARTA RECOMMENDS CANDLER
ROAD ARTERIAL RAPID TRANSIT ROUTE, HOSTS VIRTUAL PUBLIC MEETING
ATLANTA _ The
Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will host a virtual public
meeting on Wednesday, May 17 at 6 p.m., to announce the recommended alignment
of the Candler Road arterial rapid transit (ART) project.
The route will
begin at Georgia State University Perimeter College – Panthersville, and serve
Candler Road, Memorial Drive and Columbia Drive, terminating at Avondale rail
station. This route was identified DeKalb County Transit Master Plan and will
be funded with existing MARTA revenues.
Prior to
recommending this route, MARTA conducted a public engagement process and a
technical analysis including ridership projections, a reliability, efficiency,
connectivity evaluation and a cost analysis.
